Life in Our Funstead Kitchen: Where Family, Food & Memories Come Together
There’s something special about a kitchen that stays busy from morning to night. At our Funstead home, the kitchen isn’t just where we cook — it’s where life happens. Kids running around, a skillet always warm, the smell of biscuits in the oven, and that familiar sound of someone asking, “What’s for dinner?” before breakfast is even over.
Our kitchen is the heart of everything we do, and it’s where most of our best memories start.
A Kitchen Built on Love & Simple Ingredients
We don’t try to make fancy meals or over-complicated dishes. Around here, food is meant to be comforting, filling, and easy enough to enjoy without stress.
Most of the time, we’re cooking with what we already have — potatoes, eggs, sausage, flour, butter, and cast-iron pans that have seen more meals than we can count.
And honestly? That’s the best part.
There’s a peace that comes from making meals the way our grandparents did — slow, simple, and full of flavor.
Kids Running Wild (Just How We Like It)
If you've been around here long, you know the theme of our home:
Kids running wild — the way it should be.
They help crack the eggs (sometimes too hard), sprinkle cheese, mix batter, and definitely sneak the first bite off the pancake stack when they think we aren’t looking.
It’s messy, it’s loud, and it’s perfect.
Years from now, they won’t remember the exact recipes…
But they will remember standing on stools, flour on their shirts, and laughing around the kitchen table.
Food That Brings Everyone Together
Every meal in our house feels like its own little moment. Breakfast is big here — pancakes stacked high, skillet potatoes, biscuits and gravy… the kind of food that brings everyone to the table without being called twice.
Lunch is usually quick, hearty, and simple — something warm after being outside or running errands.
And dinner?
That’s when the stories come out, the kids settle down (a little), and everyone recaps the day.
It’s not perfect. It’s real. And that’s what makes it ours.
Why We Share Our Recipes
We started sharing recipes to help families just like ours — families who love real food, real life, and simple comfort. Not picture-perfect kitchens or fancy dishes… just the kind of meals that feel like home.
If one of our recipes makes your morning easier, your dinner better, or your table a little fuller, then this whole journey is worth it.
