There’s something special about a kitchen that stays busy from sunrise to bedtime.

In our Funstead home, the kitchen isn’t just where we cook — it’s where life happens. There are kids running through the hallway, a cast iron skillet that never truly cools down, the smell of biscuits drifting from the oven, and someone asking, “What’s for dinner?” before we’ve even finished breakfast.

Our kitchen is the heart of everything we do, and it’s where most of our best memories begin.

A Kitchen Built on Love & Simple Ingredients

We don’t aim for fancy meals or complicated dishes. Around here, food is meant to be comforting, filling, and made with ingredients we already have on hand. Potatoes, eggs, sausage, flour, butter — simple staples that turn into meals our family loves.

Most of our cooking happens in old cast-iron pans seasoned with years of stories. And truthfully? That’s what makes everything taste better.

There’s a peace in cooking the way our grandparents did — slow, simple, and full of flavor.

Kids Running Wild

If you’ve been around here long, you already know the theme of our home:

Kids running wild — the way it should be.

They crack the eggs (sometimes a little too enthusiastically), sprinkle cheese, mix batter, and always try to sneak the first pancake off the stack when they think we’re not looking.

It’s messy, loud, chaotic… and absolutely perfect.

Years from now, they won’t remember the exact recipes.
But they will remember standing on stools, flour on their shirts, and laughing around the kitchen table.

Food That Brings Everyone Together

Every meal in our house feels like a moment in time — something small but meaningful.

Breakfast is big here.
Pancakes stacked high.
Skillet potatoes.
Biscuits and gravy.

The kind of food that pulls everyone to the table without needing to be called twice.

Lunch is simple and hearty — something warm after being outside or running errands.

And dinner?
That’s when the stories come out.
That’s when the kids finally settle down (a little).
That’s when we all reconnect.

It’s not perfect.
It’s real.
And that’s what makes it ours.

Why We Share Our Recipes

We started sharing recipes to help families just like ours — families who love real food, real life, and real moments around the table.

We’re not about picture-perfect kitchens or gourmet meals.

We’re about comfort food… simple ingredients… and dishes that feel like home.

If one of our recipes makes your morning easier, your dinner better, or your kitchen a little happier, then sharing this piece of our life is absolutely worth it.
